Unveiling the Dimensions of Internet of Things: A Comprehensive Bibliometric Analysis

The Internet of Things is changing the way of living lives. Due to advances in technology, it is gaining utmost importance in today's world. The primary objective of this paper is to prospect the impact of IoT in daily life and also focus on highlighting its characteristics, evolution and emerging applications. Here, the architecture of IoT is also explored to integrate devices to accumulate real-time data and analyze it. The usage of IoT in smart cities, agriculture transportation and smart homes are also highlighted. Additionally, the challenges for its development are put through this study. A spike is observed in patents and publications which is illustrated using bibliometric analysis and it is found that 2022 acts as the apex where the key sources include “IEEE Access” and “Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems”. The authors highlighted the real-world understanding of this emerging technology and its potential in the future.
