Improving Digital Video Broadcasting DVB-T2 Lite System Performance by Applying Convolutional Interleaver

The digital video broadcasting’s second generation terrestrial technology, DVBT2, is regarded as an enhanced variant DVBT. When compared with other terrestrial standards that are now available, it provides the highest levels of efficiency, dependability, and flexibility. Furthermore, the traditional DVB-T2 is regarded as the basic component for the T2 lite system (DVBT2’s mobile configuration). One crucial component of DVB-T2 technology is the interleaver element, since the type of interleaver has a significant impact on the system, the purpose of this study is to compare the T2 Lite system’s performance before and after the interleaver is applied. Three various scenarios are considered: the first scenario is obtained without any interleaver, and the next two cases are generated using two common types of interleavers, namely block interleaver and convolutional interleaver. To determine which of the three scenarios produces better performance, a comparison is made between them. The effectiveness of two modulation techniques, QPSK and 16QAM, is assessed using two types of channels (fixed and an additive white Gaussian noise channel) at a 2/3 coding rate. MATLAB R2022a has been used to simulate the suggested model. The results show that, in comparison to other simulation scenarios, the convolutional interleaver’s bit error rate (BER) is the lowest. Using a convolutional interleaver enhances the proposed system’s enactment.
