Design and Cost Analysis of Solar UPS Based 3kWp Off-Grid Solar System with Generation of 12–15 Units/day for 2.5kW Household Load

Solar energy is one of the most important renewable energy resources. Advancement of solar technology leads to use solar power as much as possible to prevent the depletion of natural resources like coal, fossil fuels, etc. and reduce the cost of electric energy consumed for different purposes. Use of solar technology keeps environment clean. Generally electric power is needed to run household load and for this consumer should pay monthly electricity bill to the Electricity Distribution Companies. To reduce the home electricity consumption which in turn reduces the charge of monthly electricity bill of a consumer on-grid solar and off-grid solar technologies are available which can be installed. In this paper, design of a 3kWp off-grid solar system with all its component details and installation technique has been discussed. The sole purpose is to generate solar power that is fed to the load coming from the utilization of home appliances. The designed system is capable to generate 12–15 units of energy per day with 10 hours battery backup-time. In this system we have considered MPPT solar UPS (inverter) for improving the efficiency of the entire system. For better performance, Mono PERC half cut solar panels are highly recommended for this proposed system. The main objective of this paper is to show how off-grid solar system can reduce the charge of monthly electricity bill. A detail cost analysis has also been discussed in this paper. Initial investment for installation of off-grid solar system is very high. But in the long run consumer can profit from it.
