Integrating Battery Energy Storage Systems for Enhanced Grid Reliability and Renewable Energy Management

India's renewable energy capacity reached 120 GW in 2023, driven by solar and wind growth. To stabilize the grid and enhance energy reliability, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are crucial. This project investigates BESS integration into the Indian power grid using MATLAB and Simulink. Batteries emerged as the most feasible solution due to declining costs (84% fall since 2010) and technological advancements. Simulations will model BESS under various scenarios. This project aims to demonstrate that integrating BESS can enhance grid reliability and flexibility while offering a financially viable solution for renewable energy management in India.
