Verifying the Robustness of Fingerprint Authentication Method for FSO System Against Atmospheric Turbulence and Obstructions

For Free Space Optical Communication system, in order to check the origin of the received data stream an authentication method has been proposed, which uses the number of intertwined phase fronts of a vortex beam as its ‘Fingerprint’. The stability of this method has been checked for transmission of the beam through highly turbulent atmosphere, as well as partial obstruction. For atmospheric turbulence simulation, Karman-Tatarski model was used. The robustness of the process was tested for additional obstructions whose percentage was increased gradually in order to find the limiting amount of obstruction.
