Advanced Attendance Monitoring: A Unified System Using QR Codes and Facial Recognition

This paper presents a very new approach toward attendance tracking in any educational institution that integrates QR code technology with facial recognition. The proposed solution tries to make attendance recording more accurate and efficient, avoiding inaccuracies and administrative difficulties from prior techniques. In this approach, students first register themselves at the institution; subsequently, their information and photograph are taken. After that, a special QR code is generated, getting printed on their institutional ID card, which would serve as a unique identification. Students scan QR codes while entering and exiting premises, followed by face recognition in verification. The technology calculates percentages of attendance based on entry and exit timestamps. The information collected thereafter gets stored in a structured student database, which tracks a student's progress according to their academic cycle. This paper reviews the technique, applications of facial recognition technology, and the benefits the system provides as a whole. This research looks into the future and studies prospective applications and updates to this technology.
