Optimally Tuned Two-Degree-of-Freedom IMC for the Output Voltage Regulation of a Buck Converter

This paper proposes the design of an optimally tuned modified two-degree-of-freedom internal model control (MTDF-IMC) for the output voltage regulation of a DC-DC buck converter. The proposed MTDF-IMC controller is capable of independently handling the set-point tracking and disturbance rejection. The performance of the proposed controller is compared with the Fractional order-IMC (FOIMC) and and IMC based proportional integral derivative (IMC-PID) control schemes to verify the enhanced capability of the proposed controller. The results substantiate that the proposed MTDF-IMC controller outperforms the FO-IMC and IMC-PID control schemes.
