Tamper-Resistant Document Management System Integrated with Blockchain Technology

This paper focuses on the development of a Tamper-Resistant Document Management System integrated with blockchain technology to create tamper-proof records of document interactions. A tamper-resistant Document Management System integrated with blockchain technology was developed to address the challenges of document security, integrity, and traceability in modern business environments. The system was designed for organisations and businesses in Zimbabwe that handle sensitive information and require robust document management solutions. This includes government agencies, financial institutions, healthcare providers, educational institutions, legal firms, and non-governmental organisations. The paper was motivated by the need to mitigate the risks of unauthorised access, data breaches, and document tampering, which can lead to costly errors, productivity losses, and compromised client relations. The system successfully achieved its objectives, demonstrating enhanced security, transparency, and immutability in document management. It provides a single authenticated platform that creates an immutable record for each file handled, ensuring tamper-proof records of document interactions. The results align with existing literature on the benefits of blockchain technology in document management, particularly in enhancing security, transparency, and trust. The system's use of a centralised repository with blockchain integration for verification aligns with current trends in balancing centralised and decentralised approaches. The system offers significant benefits to its target users by improving the efficiency and security of document management. It helps mitigate risks such as security breaches, costly errors, productivity losses, and compromised client relations. Additionally, it provides valuable insights into the significance of proper document-handling practices in modern business environments.
