Development of an Arduino-Based PID Temperature Control System for High-Temperature Tensile Testing of Automotive Steel Sheets

This paper presents the development of a Arduino based Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) temperature control system using an Arduino UNO, R-type thermocouple, and solid-state relay (SSR) within a Python environment. The system is designed to achieve precise temperature regulation for high temperature tensile testing of automotive steel sheets. The R-type thermocouple sensor provides accurate temperature readings, interfaced with Arduino UNO via the Adafruit MAX31856 module, respectively. The PID algorithm, implemented in Python, dynamically adjusts the output to the SSR, controlling the resistance heating device based on the desired set point. The user-friendly Python-based GUI facilitates real-time monitoring and control, allowing users to input temperature setpoints, view live temperature data, and observe system responses through graphical representations. The integration of hardware and software components offers a cost-effective solution for robust temperature control.
