Determination and Comparative Study on the Thermal Conductivity of Silicone-Based Heat Transfer Media

Silicon-based heat transfer media has advantages in the field of trough solar thermal power generation because of its wide operating temperature range. The thermal conductivity is also a key parameter for system. The transient hot wire method is adopted in this article to determine the thermal conductivity of silicon-based heat transfer media within the temperature range of 100°C-340°C. To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurements, n-dodecane and n-octadecane are selected as the standard reference substances in the temperature ranges of 100°C- 220°C and 200°C- 340°C, the experimental errors are controlled within 1.3% and 5.0%. Under these conditions, the thermal conductivity of silicon-based, dibenzyltoluene and hydrogenated terphenyl heat transfer media are measured and compared, which provides a basis for the selection of high-temperature heat transfer media.
