A Cost-Effective Experimental Setup for Measuring L- I Characteristics of LED using Photodiode

This paper presents a cost-effective setup for measuring the Optical Power-Current (L-I) characteristics of Light-Emitting Diodes (LEDs) using affordable components. Traditional setups often rely on high-precision photodetectors and optical power meters, which may not be feasible for smaller research labs or educational institutions. In this study, a correction factor K, determined experimentally to be O.35^xlO-3, is applied to the current output of a low-cost photodiode. This correction factor adjusts for the discrepancies between the actual and measured optical power, ensuring that the optical power is proportional to the photodiode's current. The proposed system closely approximates results from traditional high-end systems, making it an attainable and accessible solution for resource-limited environments.
