Summary

The introduction of the steam engine made the First Industrial Revolution (IR) followed by the discovery of electricity led to the second and the computer machinery took the world to the Third Industrial Revolution. Industry 4.0 otherwise called the fourth IR is through The digitalization of the industrial industry is being propelled by disruptive developments such as the increasing prominence of knowledge and communication, the use of analytics, and the advancement of human–machine interaction, improvements, and created business competitiveness across countries. The gain of digital manufacturing led to the formation of various policies and guidelines. The emphasis placed on the significance of adopting Industry 4.0 has resulted in a lack of recognition of the potential consequences for intra‐firm and inter‐firm organizational structures, specifically in terms of understanding generation and dissemination within organizations. In the present context, our objective was to make an insight review on advanced digital manufacturing technology solutions used in the concept of Industry 4.0, when examined through the lens of knowledge management, revealing significant implications and opportunities for organizations.
