Thriving with an AI Lifecycle

Summary

Once the system has been developed and deployed, the work is still not complete. As with all other software, an artificial intelligence (AI) project requires regular upkeep and maintenance. This chapter presents steps that will help us organization to learn and grow, even in cases where the specific project might turn out to be a total loss. Independent of the decision to continue active development, user feedback remains key to maintaining a usable system. The simplest method for receiving user feedback is to include a button in our system labeled Feedback. One of the best parts about an artificial intelligence system is that it can “learn” and improve over time. This learning process is automated but not automatic; the difference is that someone has to trigger the automation in order to get the ball rolling. When using AI models, it is important to be able to quantify their performance.
