Summary

This chapter introduces artificial intelligence (AI) with graphic processing units (GPUs) and tensor processing units and then introduce cloud AI. It shows how to develop web‐based AI applications. The chapter covers packaging our AI code, using Kubernetes and Docker, understanding edge AI, developing mobile AI applications, and finally understanding quantum AI. An intelligence processing unit (IPU) is a new form of AI computing infrastructure, developed by Graphcore, a company based in Bristol, United Kingdom. An IPU has shown improved performances and is more cost effective than the traditional GPU. It is particularly suitable for natural language processing and computer vision. Cloud computing is the online computing platform that provides services such as virtual machines (Linux or Windows), databases (SQL and NoSQL), storage, applications, and other services, typically with pay‐as‐you‐go pricing.
