Monopole Antenna Design with Dual Notch Bands and Ultra-Wideband properties for Wireless Communications

This research introduces a novel ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna design featuring dual band-notched function. The antenna's architecture comprises a trapezoid radiation patch, a modified rectangular feedline with a rotated E-shaped strip, and a trapezoid ground plane with a pair of rectangular slits. The obtained results highlight the antenna's operational range from 3 to 13 GHz, effectively covering the UWB spectrum. Particularly noteworthy are the dual band-notched characteristics achieved at 3.8 GHz and 5.5 GHz, strategically implemented to mitigate interference from WLAN, C-band, and WiMAX systems. The study rigorously assesses the investigated antenna, confirming its capability to deliver satisfactory frequency responses, radiation patterns, as well as efficiency and gain levels as per the intended design. In summary, the suggested modified antenna design successfully meets the stringent requirements for band-notched UWB wireless communications, underscoring its potential for seamless integration into modern wireless networks.
