Power Density Investigation of Distributed Magnetic Pole Permanent Magnet Planetary Machine

Compared to conventional single-rotor permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs), the distributed magnetic pole permanent magnet planetary machine (DMPPMPM) consists of several small-radius rotors, allowing for high-speed operation to gain high power density. However, the differences in electromagnetic and mechanical structures between DMPPMPM and conventional single-rotor PMSMs render existing design methods for calculating the power density of DMPPMPM unsuitable. By developing analytical models for both the electromagnetic and mechanical aspects, the power density of the machine across different configurations can be evaluated.
