Accelerating the Commissioning Process of Wi-SUN FAN Nodes

Wireless Smart Utility Network Field Area Networks (Wi-SUN FAN) provide a communications infrastructure for very large-scale outdoor networks. In this way, a Wi-SUN FAN lets industrial devices such as smart meters and streetlights interconnect onto one common network. Wireless network commissioning is the first step to establish and configure the Wi-SUN FAN. However, existing commissioning speed is slow and not stable. In this paper, detailed analysis is performed for commissioning process and a dynamic trickle time control method according to network size and density is proposed to accelerate the commissioning process. Experiment results validate the commissioning improvement.
