A Packet Detection Method with Wide CFO Range Coverage for Bluetooth Low Energy 1M PHY Signal

This paper presents a detection method for BLE receiver which has approximately constant performance under a wide CFO range. To improve performance under large CFO, the presented method divides the whole CFO range into 5 sub-ranges. The CFO range division is performed after correlation through several linear combinations of in-phase and quadrature correlation results. There is no extra correlation in each CFO subrange, which can reduce complexity significantly. The simulation results show that the presented method has stable performance under the whole CFO range a BLE receiver needs to cover.
