Design and development of virtual reality technology in teaching science courses -the example of "Energy and minerals - coal"

In recent years, as the level of science and technology continues to develop rapidly, higher demands have been placed on the scientific literacy of citizens. The traditional science classroom may lead to students' insufficient understanding of scientific knowledge and difficulty in forming systematic scientific thinking. Teaching resources developed through virtual reality technology can enrich the educational environment and visualize complex structures. In the chapter "Energy and Minerals - Coal" in the fifth grade of elementary school, the knowledge of coal involves complex physicochemical change processes. The article adopts the literature research method to explore the current status of domestic and international research, related policies and concepts. Through the questionnaire survey method and interview method, it clarifies the needs of teachers and students for the course, demonstrates the feasibility of the study, and carries out the VR teaching design from the four aspects of scientific concepts, scientific thinking, inquiry and practice, attitude and responsibility, corresponding to the six boards are the formation of coal, the distribution of China's mineral resources, the display of the mineral model, the coal combustion experiments, and coal power generation experiments, and describes in detail the process of the development of the teaching resource .
