Analysis of the Effectiveness of Mobile Inquiry-Based Learning for PICC Catheter Patients Based on VR Technology

Objective: To design and create a virtual simulation training platform for PICC catheterization and to explore the effects of mobile inquiry-based learning on PICC patient care. Methods: A PICC patient care learning platform was developed using virtual simulation technology. Students from one class of the 2021 nursing students were randomly selected as the control group, while another class served as the observation group. The observation group used a VR-based mobile inquiry-based learning model, whereas the control group followed traditional teaching methods. The teaching effects were then compared. Results: The observation group outperformed the control group in theoretical scores, practical operation assessment, clinical communication skills, critical thinking abilities, teaching satisfaction, and qualitative interview outcomes. Conclusion: The VR-based mobile inquiry-based learning model for PICC patient care stimulated students' learning enthusiasm, promoted self-directed learning, enhanced communication skills, and ensured teaching quality and efficiency.
