Optimization of the Coefficient of Performance in Heat Pump Systems and its Application to Climate Intervention

This study presents an optimization of the parameters of a heat pump system that maximizes the Coefficient of Performance (COP) while ensuring the required flow rate and temperature variations in a constrained power and space environment. We modeled the refrigerant cycle of the heat pump cooling system using the numerical analysis software MATLAB/SimulinklSimscape, and employed the Nelder-Mead method to maximize the COP under constant cooling power conditions. The optimization process successfully increased COP by a factor of 1.3 without compromising cooling capacity. Additionally, we conducted a cooling simulation with a weather simulator, the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF), to verify the reduction in the typhoon's central pressure.
