Design of a Digital Twin System for Substations Based on Unity

A digital twin system for substations, grounded in digital twin technology and developed using Unity, is presented in this paper. This system facilitates the monitoring, management, and analysis of substations. A mapping is established between the physical equipment and virtual models within the system to mirror the operational status of the substation, thereby assisting operations and maintenance personnel in the rapid identification of potential issues. The capabilities of the system encompass scene browsing, equipment display, simulated equipment repair, and data application. Operational data is collected from substation sensors, and Unity’s graphical rendering capabilities are harnessed to craft an intuitive 3D interface. This interface empowers users to gain a comprehensive understanding of the substation’s operational status. Furthermore, the system integrates Python for the analysis of historical data, enabling the provision of fault detection and maintenance recommendations. This integration serves to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Utilizing this digital twin system, intelligent monitoring and data-driven decision-making are achieved, leading to the optimization of operational management and the enhancement of overall operational benefits.
