The Effect of Awareness, Trust, Privacy, and Security on Students Adoption of Digital Banking

This research investigates the impact of awareness, trust, privacy, and security on the adoption of digital banking among students. The study addresses the growing prevalence of digital technology in the banking sector, particularly within the student demographic. The primary objective is to examine the extent to which awareness, trust, and perceptions of privacy and security influence students' behavioral intentions to adopt digital banking services. A quantitative methodology was employed, utilizing survey questionnaires administered to students enrolled in higher education institutions across Indonesia. An enhanced Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was utilized to analyze the data, which integrates additional constructs such as awareness, trust, privacy, and security. Previous studies have explored similar relationships, showing that 51.3% of students demonstrate high awareness of digital banking, while 4.7% have very low awareness and trust. However, this study introduces different variables and theoretical frameworks, offering deeper insights into the student demographic. Compared to studies conducted in other countries, this research provides a localized perspective, addressing cultural and educational differences that influence digital banking adoption. All the hypotheses proposed in this study have been supported, as indicated by the results. The outcomes aim to contribute significantly to academic research and practical applications in the banking sector.
