Enterprise Architecture Framework in Smart Village: A Systematic Literature Review

The application of Enterprise Architecture (EA) in an organization acts as a rational approach and crucial reference, including in the context of smart village development. A smart village is a concept of village development that enables the village to be independent and autonomous in providing services. EA serves as a rational approach and guide in the implementation of an organization's IT systems, including its application in smart villages. While numerous review papers have explored EA Enterprise Architecture (EA), none have specifically focused on smart villages. This literature review seeks to identify and examine current EA practices within smart village, drawing on 35 primary studies and adhering to Kitchenham's guidelines. The VOSviewer application was utilized to formulate research questions following the Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome, and Context (PICOC) criteria. The results of this literature review reveal that TOGAF is the most widely implemented EA framework in smart village development, accounting for 74.2% of cases. The analysis also reveals that the e-Government dimension dominates 67.6% of the studies, indicating that digitizing government services is a top priority in smart village development. These findings underscore the critical role of selecting the right architecture framework to successfully integrate technology and infrastructure for sustainable smart village development.
