Optimization of Multi-phase Buck Converter

The design, implementation, and performance analysis of a DC-DC multi-phase buck converter (MBC) has been explained, it is a three-phase power supply system. The study highlights the advantages of multi-phase configurations, which utilize parallel-connected buck converter phases sharing input and output capacitors, over conventional single-phase designs. The Arduino ATMEGA 2560 generates the programmable gate pulses at a frequency of 10 kHz enhancing control flexibility. The experimental results reveal a significant reduction in output voltage ripple with improved efficiency. The MBC’s capability to minimize capacitor charging and discharging times has been demonstrated successfully. These findings underscore the potential of multi-phase buck converters for high-power applications requiring rapid voltage adjustments and minimal ripple.
