Markov Modelling of Sustainable Electric Vehicle Infrastructures Using Priority Queues

Managing the fast charging facilities on green highway networks remains a challenge, and it is not unusual that the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) sector has made the availability of charging infrastructure an essential requirement for green and sustainable transportation. This study offers a new approach that provides an analytical framework and performance evaluation for a non-preemptive priority-based queuing model under a general EV charging infrastructure with varying service rates and arrival patterns per priority classification. A new strategy for EV infrastructure sustainability through resource allocation is addressed by the mathematical framework based on Markov chains since it has certain features. Performance metrics based on priority queues, waiting times, service demand, and the overall system performance are utilized to validate our model. The proposed approach assists in managing EV charging stations and has the simultaneous advantages of fostering widespread adoption of environmentally friendly methods of transport without negatively impacting customer satisfaction and ensuring high operational effectiveness.
