Comparative performance analysis of AOA-SHE control for SC-MLI with SO-SHE and PSO-SHE based control scheme

Multilevel inverters (MLIs) are widely acknowledged as dependable power converters for photovoltaic (PV) applications, producing AC across the load from DC sources. Among the numerous MLI types, switched-capacitor MLIs (SC-MLIs) are gaining popularity for production of enhanced output with one step conversion. Current research focuses on reducing the number of circuit elements, lowering total harmonic distortion (THD), and controlling voltage stress on switches in SC-MLIs. This has resulted in the creation of new inverter topologies with effective control techniques. In this respect, this paper offers a new boost-type SC-MLI design that incorporates an Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm (AOA)-based Selective Harmonic Elimination (SHE) control method for standalone PV systems. The model is tested under a variety of situations in the MATLAB/Simulink environment to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed a new SC-MLI that contain one source with low stress on switches, low-cost factor with AOA-based SHE control. It is also contrasted to the recently implemented SO-based SHE control and conventional Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO)-based SHE control approaches to evaluate the AOA-SHE control method's effectiveness.
