Configuration and Evaluation for Capacity and Voltage Levels of Offshore Wind Power Transmission System

As offshore wind farms continue to expand in scale and the number of projects increases, it becomes crucial to align the voltage class and capacity of the power transmission system with the actual demand. This paper focuses on a comprehensive evaluation of both AC and DC transmission systems for 66 kV offshore wind farms. Taking into consideration constraints such as submarine cable capacity, voltage, and power loss, we present a methodology for selecting offshore wind power capacity and voltage level alternatives. Subsequently, we define economic indicators, including investment cost and operating cost, to assess the financial viability of these alternatives. To determine the significance of different parameters, we propose an entropy weighting method. By utilizing a weighted comprehensive index, we can more accurately assess the economic implications of transmission capacity and voltage levels on offshore wind power transmission systems. Finally, by evaluating typical examples of AC and DC transmission systems, we provide valuable references for future offshore wind power transmission schemes. These findings contribute crucial insights that can inform and guide the actual implementation of offshore wind power transmission projects in the future.
