A Co-Simulation Platform for Distribution Network Using MATLAB/Simulink and CloudPSS

The extensive integration of distributed power sources and flexible loads has increased the uncertainty of the distribution network. Electromagnetic transient simulation (EMT), based on detailed mathematical models, has become an effective means of studying distribution network control and optimization strategies. This paper constructs a co-simulation platform using the EMT simulation tools MATLAB/Simulink and CloudPSS. The simulation process control and data interaction between the tools are achieved by calling their simulation engines in Python. The co-simulation platform retains the refined distributed power generation model in Simulink and leverages the advantages of CloudPSS in the EMT simulation of large-scale distribution networks. Study cases have demonstrated the effectiveness of the co-simulation platform and the accuracy of simulation results.
