Simulation of the Hydraulic System of Crane Boom Equipped with Counterbalance Valve for Substation

The application of compact cranes in high-voltage substations is becoming increasingly widespread, and the performance of the crane boom directly impacts the reliability and stability of maintenance operations. To facilitate further theoretical analysis and simulation, a kinematic model of the crane boom and mathematical models for key hydraulic components, such as the counterbalance valve, were established. Additionally, a hydraulic model for the crane boom and counterbalance valve was developed using MATLAB/Simscape software. Subsequently, structural parameters that influence the hydraulic system during lifting, holding, and falling were sim ulated and analyzed. Furthermore, a virtual interactive interface was designed to analyze simulation results and verify model accuracy. Finally, an investigation into the impact of the counterbalance valve on the stability of the boom hydraulic system was conducted to enhance safety and reliability during operation in substations.
