A Miniaturized Implantable Multiband Circular Polarized Antenna with Meandered Structure for Wireless Power and Data Transfer in Neuromodulation Application

In this paper, a compact, bio-compatible and miniaturized multi-band antenna with circular polarization (CP) behavior is presented for wireless power transfer at 2.4 GHz and wireless data transmission at 5.8 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) bands. Initially, an antenna based on H-shaped resonator is developed and then meander-line structure is employed and optimized for size reduction and impedance matching. The proposed multi-band antenna is ${0.16}\lambda_{o}\times 0{.16\lambda_{o}}$ dimension for 2.4 GHz operating frequency which depicts 6.2% impedance bandwidth and 18.96% AR bandwidth. The specific absorption rate (SAR) of the proposed antenna is assessed and it complies with the health safety limit (SAR < 1.6 W/kg).
