Abstract:

As electric vehicles evolve, achieving optimal motor performance increasingly relies on the precision of angle sensors. This study investigates the performance of an inductive angular position sensor (IAPS) with a 4-pole-pairs rotor, focusing on the impact of receiving coils design. Using finite element simulations and experiments, the effects of receiving coil turns design on induced voltage and angle error are analyzed. Results show that increasing coil turns improves accuracy and resistance to interference, with the 3-turns receiving coils IAPS achieving the highest precision.Further optimization is needed to balance cost and performance in future designs.
