Analysis of the Application Scenarios of Synchronous Condensers in Weak Electric Grids with Solar Energy Storage

With the large-scale integration of photovoltaic and energy storage systems into the grid, voltage and frequency stability issues have intensified, and the addition of synchronous condensers is being considered as a solution. However, the application of the“solar-storage + synchronous condenser” system in weak grid stations has certain limitations, as it may lead to power angle stability issues in some grids with weak network structures. This paper primarily explores the safety and stability characteristics of the combined solar-storage and synchronous condenser system, comparing the roles of the synchronous condenser under various factors, and proposes effective measures to improve power supply capacity in local weak grids.
