Study on Satellite Self-testing Technology Based on Onboard Computers

In satellite system-level testing, numerous test items rely on ground-sent remote control commands and subsequent telemetry parameter interpretation to assess the health and functional accuracy of satellite systems. Such testing spans various stages, including factory electrical testing, before and after large-scale testing, pre-shipment preparation, and launch site preparation, and requires frequent repetition. However, ground testing is limited by the communication rate between the satellite and the ground, as well as delays in command generation and telemetry analysis, which hampers efficiency. Given the increasing mass production of satellites, the traditional ground testing model, characterised by its intensity, low efficiency, and repetitive manual processes, is becoming inadequate for meeting the rising demands. To address this issue, we propose an innovative satellite Self-testing technology based on onboard computers. These onboard computers not only handle the parsing of remote control commands but also integrate and downlink all satellite telemetry parameters, laying a solid foundation for implementing satellite self-testing. Furthermore, this approach overcomes the limitations of the satellite-ground communication link rate, facilitates high-speed information exchange, and significantly enhances testing efficiency, offering substantial practical benefits.
