Motion Characteristics of Metal Particles and Dust Visualization Method for DC GIL/GIS

Particle pollution significantly compromises the safety and reliability of DC GIL and GIS equipment. Understanding the motion characteristics of particles is essential for addressing this issue. This paper presents the construction of a ±320 kV GIS equivalent test platform to investigate the motion characteristics of spherical particles, linear particles, and dust particles. Spherical particles exhibit reciprocating motion under the influence of the actuating voltage, while linear particles display more complex motion characteristics, including the occurrence of the firefly phenomenon and the standing phenomenon. Additionally, the dust location identification method, based on the Vibe algorithm, effectively identifies the dispersion phenomenon of dust in response to the applied voltage. This research offers a valuable reference for the design of main insulation systems aimed at mitigating particle movement.
