Accessibility to Public Buildings for Wheelchair Users: An Innovative Android Application

In this work, we introduce WellPathJo, an Android application that assists users in locating accessible public buildings in Amman, Jordan. WellPathJo has four accessibility features: parking spaces, restrooms, elevators, and ramps. Additionally, there are three different user types on the app: administrators, building owners, and wheelchair users. The system is generally managed by the administrator. On the other hand, maintaining a building's information page may fall under the authority of the building owner. Lastly, the application allows the wheelchair user to locate public facilities, read about their accessibility features, and rate and comment on those qualities. We have created an assessment survey to gauge WellPathJo's performance, and it has been filled by a group of users who gave us a positive feedback. In the future, we aim to add artificial intelligence algorithms to our work, expand the supported languages, and produce an iOS version.
