An Efficient Power Management Circuit for Battery Monitoring Systems

With the growing adoption of renewable energy sources like wind and solar power, energy storage systems are vital for balancing supply and demand and ensuring grid stability. Lithium-ion batteries, known for their high energy density, long cycle life, and rapid response, are widely used for energy storage. However, they operate under challenging conditions, including frequent charge-discharge cycles and fluctuating temperatures, which can impact performance and safety. This paper presents an advanced Power Management Circuit (PMC) to improve efficiency and extend battery life. The proposed solution integrates dynamic zero-tracking compensation for LDO regulation and dynamic switching adjustment to reduce switching losses under light loads. The PMC, with an input voltage range of 1.9V–3.3V, offers adjustable output voltages (1.7V–1.9V and 0.8V–1.0V) and achieves over 85% efficiency. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in efficiency, stability, and battery lifespan for lithium-ion energy storage systems.
