A Systematic Literature Review on the Use of Digital Technologies in Outdoor Education

In the past, there were discrepancies in the use of digital technologies in outdoor education (OE) where the experts of OEE contested over the idea that digital technologies may hinder the authentic experience of the participants in the outdoors. However, studies have been conducted to describe more structured ways that digital technologies can be used outdoors to enhance experience and learning. This research examines and analyzes publications on the application of digital technologies in outdoor education spanning from 2020 to 2024. It investigates four research inquiries pertaining to the contemporary trends in research methodologies, assessment techniques, contributions, and correlations among them. After employing a filtering process, the research has identified 40 pertinent papers. This article will initially showcase all descriptive findings, data analyses, correlations, and, finally, insights from the review analysis processes.
