Evolution Boundary Cellular Automata: Modification of Wolfram Single Seed ECA

Cellular Automata was introduced in nineteen forties with self-reproduction modeling. It has produced solution to various problems through matrix simulation technique. Elementary Cellular Automata (ECA) in one dimension was comprehensively studied by Stephen Wolfram in 1980s. His modeling generated on single seed and initially random data evolved various types of patterns under different boundary conditions. Present study is related to defects in few reported patterns with analysis and proposed modifications. Presence of boundary defects in the rule patterns was reported in number of studies but the corrective code modeling has not been reported till date. In previous studies confirmation of noise presence in evolved patterns has brought attention towards this exploration. A model for removing the boundary defects in the evolutionary patterns of Cellular Automata is presented in this paper that effectively resists the boundary defects from invading into evolution patterns. No earlier studies are found using such technique of controlling the pattern evolution to avoid noise/defects. The modeling is introduced here as Evolution Boundary Cellular Automata (EBCA) on its structure of programming model. Although this study covers the experimentation on Elementary 1DCA evolution but the proposed model can be applied to all dimensions of CA pattern evolution modeling and beyond.
