Home Appliance Reliability Study – The Failure of the Turntable Motor

This document has the purpose to present a new reliability validation test procedure for turntable motor, based on innovative experimental outcomes. Design of Experiment principles have been used to implement a test plan and the outputs have been used to select the aging factors. Load profile has been derived considering the results of a survey about the cooking habits. The failure mode under study has been characterized and replicated playing with the environmental conditions. Acceleration factors has been calculated using Reliasoft®. A new way to evaluate the stress distribution, enhanced the Stress-Strength analysis that provides the failure probability calculation. The new validation test procedure proposed is a demonstration test based on Lognormal distribution.
