Abstract:

In recent times, Automation of buildings has caught the attentions of everyone. The foregoing is being reinforced when it is geared towards building energy management in relation to energy efficiency. By incorporating ubiquitous Internet of things (IoT) algorithms, the building is considered a smart one. It comprises sensors, controllers, actuators and remote monitoring devices. A Sensor is used to sense a physical condition and convert it into an electrical signal. The paper systematically itemizes sensors commonly used in building automation systems in relation to their principles of operations, applications in automation of buildings and technical details for the purpose of design of Energy saving building automatic control systems (ESBACS). It is believed that the information provided will serve as spring boards for effective research in design of building automation systems.
