Multilevel Inverter with H-Bridge Using an ATMega328p Microcontroller

In DC/AC inverters, multi-level inverters have emerged as the industry standard and are essential for numerous industrial applications. Multi-level inverters (MLIs) are becoming more common due to the development of advanced medium-power self-commutated switching devices. Reduced total harmonic distortion (THD), reduced input filtering, reduced switch stress, reduced dv/dt, lower di/dt, and the capability to operate at higher and lower switching frequencies are among the primary advantages of MLIs. Other benefits include decreased power losses, increased power process capability, enhanced efficiency, and reduced electromagnetic interference. The proposed configuration mainly includes DC sources, a gate signal generator, a level generator, and a polarity generator. Here, the H-bridge inverter is a polarity generator. Level generators and polarity changers both require MOSFETs as electrical switches. These switches are triggered by an ATMega-328 microcontroller and isolated using a PC817, 8-channel opto-isolator. More switches and cells can be added to a level generator to raise the output levels even further. This research uses the suggested configurations to decrease the quantity of power electronics switches and voltage sources. Simulation verification is performed using experimental results to check the viability of the suggested solution.
