A Wideband Polarization-Insensitive Metasuraface Absorber For Harvesting RF Energy & Wireless Power Transmission

This paper introduces an energy harvesting technique through a polarization-insensitive metasurface absorber over a wideband from 19.8-23.5 GHz. The proposed wideband metasurface absorber consists of an F4B substrate (sandwiched between split ring resonators (SRRs) & Cu ground plane) and 350 ohms resistive loads to improve energy capturing capability over wideband. The metasurface absorber’s design allows more than $\mathbf{9 0 \%}$ absorption of energy over the whole absorption bandwidth of 3.7 GHz. The absorbed RF energy is then passed to an integrated rectifying circuit to convert it into DC. The maximum simulated rectification efficiency of the integrated rectifier obtained is 59.9% at 15 dBm of input power.
