A Double Slotted Antipodal Vivaldi Yagi-Uda Antenna for 5G mmWave MIMO Applications

In this paper, a four-element multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna employing a double slotted antipodal vivaldi yagi-uda antenna (DSAVYA) is proposed for mmWave MIMO applications, targeting the n257 and n261 5G FR2 bands specifically. The use of a double slotted antipodal vivaldi structure (DSAVS) as gain-enhancing component, makes this approach unique, which results in a notable 3.1 dB boost in the gain of the proposed antenna. The DSAVYA has an impedance bandwidth of 27.4% ($25.68-33.83 \mathrm{GHz}$) with gain varying from 6.9 to 8.7 dBi. The DSAVYA is subsequently utilized further in a four-element MIMO with orthogonal arrangement that boasts a wide impedance bandwidth of 27.6% (25.63-33.82 GHz) with a gain varying from 7.3 to 9.2 dBi. The MIMO configuration of the DSAVYA offers 1.9 dB gain-bandwidth over the entire band covered.
