Design and Eigen Analysis of Diagonal Tensor Based Holographic Metasurface Antenna

A comprehensive eigen analysis and design procedure of a low profile, diagonally tensor meta unit-cell loaded Holographic Metasurface Antenna (HMSA) is discussed in this article. Using Irreducible Brillouin Zone (IBZ) theory, an effective tensorial surface impedance ($Z_{s u r f}$) is extracted for proposed diagonally tensor meta unit-cell. Furthermore, a linearly polarized HMSA (LPHMSA) is designed using axially sectored phase inversion method. Proposed LPHMSA, having an overall dimension of $12.5 \lambda_{0} \times 12.5 \lambda_{0}$ is composed with nonlinearly distributed $50 \times 50=\mathbf{2 5 0 0}$ diagonally tensor meta unit-cell. A single, highly directive beampattern towards ($\theta_{0}$, $\left.\varphi_{0}\right)=\left(0^{\circ}, 0^{\circ}\right)$ is realized with a peak gain $\left(g_{max }\right)=22.11 \mathrm{dBi}$. Proposed LPHMSA is operated at $f_{r}=25 \mathrm{GHz}$.
