Key Parameters Optimization Method of Wind Turbine Reactive Power Support Considering Power Angle Stability and Short-Circuit Current

The power angle stability, voltage stability and short circuit current issues are combined in power systems with renewable energy like wind power integrated. Current research mostly focuses on improving the stability based on single factor, without considering the multiple factors to develop optimization methods for wind turbine control parameters. To solve the issue, an optimization method for key parameters is proposed in this paper considering transient power angle stability. Firstly, based on the simplified model of wind-thermal combined system, the influence of wind active power output on power angle stability is analyzed. Then, expression for the short-circuit current of the direct-driven wind turbine is derived, and the key factors that influence the levels of active and reactive currents are analyzed. Finally, the influence of key parameters on the reactive power voltage support of wind turbines are studied by simulation, based on which the optimization principles and method for the key parameters are developed. The simulation results based on actual power grid show that the proposed method can improve the reactive voltage support capacity of wind turbines with high transient power angle stability margin and low short circuit current level.
