Modelling for PWM Carrier Loss Evaluation in Claw-pole Machine using MATLAB/Simulink

This paper proposes an evaluation model for PWM carrier loss in claw-pole machines employed for ISG applications under dual three-phase drive. The PWM carrier loss is evaluated based on PWM carrier voltage waveform and high-frequency impedance. The proposed model is composed of the equivalent circuit model that uses machine parameters measured from an actual machine, and PWM carrier loss is evaluated using the PWM carrier voltage wave-form obtained from the propose model and the measured high-frequency impedance. The validity of the proposed model is examined by comparing the model-based evaluation results with the experimental results.
