Seamless Switch of Control Mode Over Current Vector Control and Voltage Phase Control in IPMSM

Torque feedback control with single-pulse mode has been applied to interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) torque control in field weakening control regions to enhance the output power of electric vehicles. However, seamless torque control is required at the mode change over the current vector control with the multi-pulse Pulse Width Modulation and the voltage phase control with the single-pulse mode. This study proposes switching these IPMSM control modes by maintaining the voltage amplitude and phase before and after control switching. The proposed method is experimentally verified with a 1kW PMSM system.
