A Novel Single-Phase AC Power Supplied Dual-Inverter Topology with Integrated Rectifier

A dual inverter is effective in increasing an inverter output voltage. However, in case of single-phase ac power supplied, a power factor correction rectifier is required, which increases the volume and cost of drive system. A four-leg converter has been proposed to downsize a motor drive system under the single-phase ac power supply, although it has the primary issue of reduced output voltage. In this study, a single-phase ac power supplied dual-inverter topology, which realizes rectification and motor drive, is proposed. The proposed dual inverter rectifies the ac power without additional elements compared with the conventional dual inverter. In addition, the proposed dual inverter outputs higher voltage than the conventional motor drive systems under the single-phase ac power supply. Simulation and experimental results show that the effectiveness of the proposed dual inverter.
