Design and Analysis of Variable Flux PM Machine for Extending Speed Region to Improve the Drive Cycle Efficiency

This paper presents the design and analysis of a variable flux PM machines which can flexibly control the air-gap flux by shifting the axial position of the PM rotor relative to the stator to achieve a wide constant power speed range (CPSR) and high efficiency for electromobility applications. By enabling flexible control over air-gap flux through rotor position adjustments and incorporating MPTA control, the method aims to optimize performance across a wide range of speeds while ensuring high efficiency and reliability.
